What is your favourite thing about working for Prima?

One of my favourite things about Prima is the opportunity for hybrid working, as we are not required to be in the office every day, which saves time by not having to commute. This way, it minimises stress and has a positive impact on my mindset.

What has your Prima journey looked like, and how have you developed over the years?

I was employed by Prima as an apprentice straight after sixth form, with little to no knowledge or experience working in finance or an office environment. I was able to learn from the professionals around me and gradually took on my own responsibilities within the team. After nearly two years with Prima, I am proud of my development, not only in Finance with the knowledge I have gained but also in my growth as a person working with colleagues who have more experience in the working world.

How did being an apprentice help you with your career journey, and what opportunities has it offered you?

Being an apprentice has massively helped my career journey because it has allowed me to learn from colleagues with more knowledge and experience. Being an apprentice has also allowed me to study for AAT while working within the finance department to gain important accountancy and financial skills and knowledge. This has created the opportunity to study for further accounting qualifications.

Do you feel undertaking your apprenticeship has helped you in work and everyday life?

My apprenticeship has more than helped me with both work and everyday life because I have been able to create a schedule and routine for each day, in and outside of work. Dedicating specific time to studying has helped me stay organised and on top of my studies.

What is your favourite thing about working for Prima?

The people.

What has your Prima journey looked like, and how have you developed over the years?

Since joining Prima in 2017, I have developed both personally and professionally. I have grown in confidence as I developed my knowledge of the sector, which has allowed me to progress within the organisation to my current position as Housing Manager.

How did you progress through Prima to get to your current role?

I started at Prima as a member of the Customer Experience Team in 2017. Within the first year, I was promoted to Housing Officer. I then moved to the Commercial Team and progressed from Officer to Leasehold and Commercial Services Manager. In February this year, I transitioned to the Housing Team as Housing Manager for the Wirral.

How has Prima supported your development, career, and personal growth?

Prima has supported me by providing opportunities to develop and progress. I have learnt a lot from my colleagues, who have always been generous with their time and knowledge. When I requested training or shadowing opportunities, Prima was supportive in granting me the time to develop. This enabled my confidence to grow and helped me apply for promotions as opportunities arose. Prima has also supported my development by allowing me to complete my CIH Level 4 qualification.

What is your favourite thing about working for Prima?

My favourite thing about Prima is that it feels like a safe and friendly place to work. The organisation I worked for previously was the complete opposite; the managers and directors showed no respect for staff, making it unpleasant to go to work. Prima, like any job, has its moments, but I have always been treated fairly and respectfully here.

What has your Prima journey looked like, and how have you developed over the years?

Since joining Prima in 2018, I have developed professionally and been encouraged to grow! I started as an apprentice and have taken on various roles, including operations, customer service, and income management.

Initially, I handled repairs, invoices, and operations processes. Later, I became a Housing Assistant (later Customer Experience Advisor), then moved over to Income as an Assistant and now as an Officer. In the meantime, I completed my Level 2 & 3 qualifications in Housing with CIH (Chartered Institute of Housing) and am now working towards Level 4. Each course has deepened my understanding of housing theory and practice, enabling me to provide a better service to our tenants.

How did being an apprentice help you with your career journey, and what opportunities has it offered you?

Being an apprentice allowed me to learn the fundamentals of housing management. It enabled me to earn a salary while gaining a qualification. I explored various areas of the business, from repairs in operations to more specialised roles in rental income, which I really enjoy.

Do you feel undertaking your apprenticeship has helped you in work and everyday life?

Yes! My apprenticeship gave me confidence and taught me how to manage workloads, especially as I’ve balanced work with completing professional qualifications over the past six years. I’m happy I chose this route instead of university; it was one of the best decisions I’ve made.

What is your favourite thing about working for Prima?

I feel valued as an employee, which makes me really enjoy working for Prima Group. I feel listened to and supported, and I appreciate the flexibility the company offers in my role. Prima has a ‘family’ feel about it.

What has your Prima journey looked like, and how have you developed over the years?

I started with Prima in November 2008 (or Pierhead Housing, as it was known then) and have held various roles since. From Customer & Business Assistant to Customer Service Assistant, Voids & Allocations Officer, Housing Officer, Insight & Innovation Officer, and now as Assistant Project Manager. My diverse roles have given me a comprehensive understanding of the organisation, which helps in my current role in delivering new schemes and SHDF Decarb projects.

How did you progress through Prima to get to your current role?

Prima was my first full-time position after temporary work at another housing association. I applied internally for several roles, and I am grateful that Prima believed in me, offering opportunities to expand my knowledge and skills.

How has Prima supported your development, career, and personal growth?

Prima has supported me from the beginning, allowing me to complete courses and pursue professional qualifications. My managers have always been supportive, both in my career growth and personally when facing challenges outside of work. This support is why I have enjoyed my 16-year career with Prima.

The culture. Prima welcomed me with open arms after leaving school, helping me develop both professionally and personally.

What has your Prima journey looked like, and how have you developed over the years?

How did being an apprentice help you with your career journey, and what opportunities has it offered you?

Being an apprentice made me more confident in my role, even as a school leaver with no prior experience. I learned on the job while surrounded by knowledgeable colleagues who guided me in the right direction.

Do you feel undertaking your apprenticeship has helped you in work and everyday life?

Definitely. It has helped me communicate and collaborate effectively, which benefits both my work life and personal interactions.
